Template issues
Most template issues are related to the uploaded document, fields, or template configuration. The following checks can help resolve common problems.
A template cannot be used for signing
A newly uploaded template starts as Raw. Raw templates contain the document but do not yet have signature fields configured.
To make a template available for signing:
- Open the template and select Edit Fields.
- Add the required fields to the document.
- Assign each field to the appropriate signer.
- Configure required field settings where needed.
- Save the template once the fields are properly configured.
A template with signature fields configured is shown as Fillable and can be used to create a signature request.
See Configure Fields.
A signer has the wrong fields
Each field is assigned to a specific signer. If a signer is seeing a field that belongs to someone else, check the field's Recipient setting.
Open the template's Edit Fields screen and:
- Select the field.
- Check the assigned Recipient.
- Change the recipient if necessary.
- Save the template.
See Configure Fields.
Fields are not positioned correctly
Use the visible guide lines in the field editor to position fields accurately on the document.
If a field appears misaligned, open Edit Fields and adjust its position and dimensions. Also make sure the underlying document has not been replaced with a different version or changed in size.
See Create a Template.
A template is missing
If you cannot find a template:
- Check the template list filters and search.
- Check whether the template was deleted and is available in Template Trash.
- If the template was saved as a draft, check the appropriate draft/template view.
If you still cannot find it, confirm that you are looking in the correct account and have the required access to the template.
