Public signing link FAQs
Common questions about reusable public signing links, sessions, limits, and sharing.
What is a Public Signing Link?
A Public Signing Link is a reusable URL that allows people to start their own signing session without the sender creating an individual request for each person in advance.
Do I need to know the signer's email address?
Not necessarily. The public-link workflow is designed for people who access the link themselves rather than recipients who are individually addressed in advance.
Can the same link be shared with many people?
Yes. A public link can be reused until it expires, reaches its submission limit, or is otherwise made inactive.
Does every person get a separate signing request?
Yes. Every person who uses the link starts an independent signing session.
Can I use a public link for one document?
Yes.
Can I use a public link for multiple documents?
Yes. Multiple templates/documents can be selected when configuring the link.
What is the difference between a Public Signing Link and a signature request?
A signature request is created for a particular recipient. A Public Signing Link is a reusable entry point that creates a new signing session whenever someone uses it.
What does the submission limit control?
It controls how many submissions can be completed through the public link.
What does "0" mean in the submission limit?
It represents an unlimited submission configuration.
Can I set an expiry date?
Yes. You can configure an expiry for the public link or use Never when no expiry is required.
Can I use a QR code?
Yes. Each public signing link provides a QR code that can be printed, displayed, or shared.
Can I use a public signing link on my website?
Yes. The public URL can be embedded or linked from places where your users need to access the signing workflow.
Can I use a public signing link for an in-person workflow?
Yes. QR codes make public links particularly suitable for reception desks, events, customer counters, visitor check-in, and similar workflows.
What is Pre-Form Settings?
Pre-Form Settings allow you to configure an initial form that can collect information before the signing process begins.
What is Prefill Data?
Prefill Data allows configured information to be populated into the signing experience so that the signer does not have to enter information that is already known.
What is Capture Signer IP?
When enabled, Undersign records the signer's IP address as part of the signing activity.
What is Capture Device Info?
When enabled, Undersign records available device information associated with the signing session.
Where can I see submissions?
Open the public link's details page. The page provides submission/signing information, including recent signer activity and signing dates.
What happens when the submission limit is reached?
The link stops accepting additional submissions once the configured submission limit has been exhausted.
What happens when a public link expires?
The link can no longer be used to start/complete new signing sessions after its expiry.
Can I change a public link after creating it?
The available configuration can be managed from the Public Signing Links area. Changes should be reviewed carefully because the same link may already have been distributed to users.
