Email signing

Email signing is the default mode: your signer receives a secure link, reviews the document in their browser, and signs whenever they're ready - no account required.

The email signing flow

  1. Request is sent

Undersign generates the request and queues the signing email for each recipient.

  2. Signer receives the email

The message comes from your configured sender (see Configure your email).

  3. Signer opens the secure link

Clicking through opens a protected review-and-sign page in the browser, on any device.

  4. Signer completes and submits

Fields are completed in order, then submitted. Signing is recorded instantly.

  5. Everyone gets the result

Completed documents and certificates are available to sender and signer.

Tracking delivery

From the request details you can see whether each signer has received, opened, or signed. Used to send reminders and gauge progress - see After sending.

Email delivery depends on SMTP

Messages flow through the SMTP relay in your account settings. If emails aren't arriving, check Email & SMTP and the email troubleshooting guide.
