Send for signature

Sending turns a template (or a fresh upload) into a live signature request. This page walks the send dialog and the choices you make between opening it and dispatching.

1. Choose what to send

Start from a template for any repeatable agreement, or send a single uploaded document directly. Templates carry their signers and fields, so sending from one mostly means naming the recipients.

2. Confirm signers and fields

Verify each recipient's name and email. Pull people from contacts, assign roles, and make sure recorded fields are owned by the right signer. See Add signers.

3. Decide signing order

Parallel (everyone at once) or sequential (fixed order). Pick per send - see Signing order.

4. Prefill information

Fill any fields you're supplying - names, references, dates - before dispatch. See Prefill information.

5. Customize the message

Personalize the email your signers receive. See Customize the message.

6. Dispatch

Hit Send. The request is generated, the audit trail begins, and signers receive their email. Track progress from that point under Sent documents.

Once sent, edits are limited. Sending captures the layout and messages into the request. For most changes you'll void and re-send rather than edit in flight.
