Completion certificates
A completion certificate is an automatically generated record that summarizes a completed signing request. It provides a convenient overview of what was signed, who signed it, and when the signing was completed.
The certificate is generated automatically when all required signers have completed the signing request.
What's included in a certificate
A completion certificate provides a summary of the signing request, including:
- Transaction details: the signing request ID and completion status.
- Sender details: the sender's name, email address, and time zone.
- Documents in the request: the document names, their completion status, and document hash.
- Signer activity: each signer's name and email address, signature and initials where applicable, IP address, and signing timestamps.
- Audit trail log: a record of important events associated with the signing request, including when each signer completed their part.
Certificate and audit trail
The completion certificate gives you a concise summary of the completed signing request, while the Audit Trail provides the more detailed chronological record of activity.
They serve different purposes:
- Completion certificate: an easy-to-review summary of the completed signing request.
- Audit trail: the detailed record of events and actions throughout the signing process.
The certificate includes an Audit Trail Log, giving you a convenient summary of the key signing events while the complete audit trail remains available from the signing request details.
Add the certificate to signed documents
When a signing request is completed, you can choose to include the completion certificate with the signed documents. This keeps the certificate together with the documents for easier storage and sharing.
The certificate can also be downloaded separately when you only need the certificate itself.
See Completed Documents for more information about accessing completed signing requests and their certificates.
