Sequential signing

Sequential signing routes a document signer by signer: the next person is only invited after the previous one completes. It's the routing of choice for approvals and multi-party authorizations.

How it flows

  1. Sender arranges the order

In the send dialog, order the signer list - first signer first.

  2. Signer 1 receives the request

Only the first signer is notified. Others wait quietly.

  3. Signer 1 completes

Their fields are sealed; their signatures are recorded.

  4. Signer 2 is invited

The next signer gets their email and reviews what's in front of them.

  5. Continue to completion

Each step unlocks the next until the last signer completes the document.

What later signers see

Later signers see the document and any fields you've made visible to them (see Field visibility). Their own signature fields are ready on arrival, but they can't act before their turn.

When sequential fits

Use it for manager approvals, sign-off chains, and any workflow where an earlier signature changes what a later signer should see or do. When everyone can sign at once, parallel is faster.
