Public signing links
A Public Signing Link is a reusable URL that allows people to access a signing request without the sender having to create and email an individual signature request to each person beforehand.
You create the link once, configure the templates and link settings, and then share the resulting URL.
The link can be shared through:
- Website pages
- Chat or messaging
- Internal portals
- Printed material
- QR codes
- Other communication channels
Each person who uses an active link starts their own signing session.
Example
Suppose a business needs every visitor to sign a standard waiver.
Instead of creating a separate signature request for every visitor:
- Create a Public Signing Link.
- Select the waiver template.
- Configure the link.
- Share the URL or QR code.
- Each visitor opens the link.
- They complete and sign their own signing session.
The next visitor can use the same link and start a new signing session.
Public Signing Link vs. Send for Signature
These features solve different problems.
| Send for Signature | Public Signing Link |
|---|---|
| Intended for a known recipient | Intended for people who access the link |
| Recipient is configured when request is created | Signing session is created when someone uses the link |
| Request is sent to a specific person | Same URL can be shared with multiple people |
| Good for contracts and individual agreements | Good for forms, waivers and recurring signing |
| One request per intended recipient | Reusable entry point for multiple submissions |
Use Send for Signature when you know who needs to sign.
Use a Public Signing Link when you want people to initiate their own signing session through a shared URL.
