Public link troubleshooting
Most public-link problems come down to link status: expiry, submission limits, or a disabled link. Check those first.
My public link does not open
Check the link's current status and configuration. Also verify that:
- The link has not expired
- The submission limit has not been reached
- The link has not been disabled
- The URL has been copied correctly
Why can't I create a Public Signing Link?
Make sure you have selected at least one template. A public signing link must have a signing template/document configuration before it can be created.
Why has my link stopped accepting signers?
Check the link's Expiry and Submission Limit. A link can stop accepting new signing sessions when its expiry has been reached or its configured submission limit has been exhausted.
What does "3 / 3" mean in Submissions?
It means that three submissions have been recorded against a link configured to allow three submissions. Once the configured limit is reached, additional signing sessions cannot be submitted through that link.
What does "0" mean for the submission limit?
A submission limit of 0 is used for an unlimited submission configuration. The link can continue accepting submissions until another condition, such as expiry or deactivation, prevents new sessions.
Can the same public link be used by multiple people?
Yes. That is the primary purpose of a Public Signing Link. Each person who uses the link starts their own independent signing session.
Can two people sign the same public request?
No. The public link is reusable, but each person receives an independent signing session. One person's completed signing session does not become the signing session for another person.
Can I use a public link for multiple documents?
Yes. A public signing link can be configured with multiple selected templates/documents. Each signing session will use the configured document package.
Can I use a QR code instead of the URL?
Yes. The Public Link Details page provides a QR code for the public signing link. You can print or display the QR code so people can access the signing experience from a mobile device.
What happens after someone completes signing?
The behavior depends on the configured On Completion setting. For example, when Show Confirmation Page is selected, the signer is shown a confirmation page after completing the signing process.
The completed signing activity is recorded separately from other submissions made through the same public link.
Why is signer IP information shown?
If Capture Signer IP is enabled, Undersign records the signer's IP address as part of the signing activity. This can provide additional audit context for the submission.
Why is device information recorded?
If Capture Device Info is enabled, Undersign records available device information associated with the signing session. This provides additional audit context.
