General FAQs
Common questions about Undersign, supported files, signing, and account usage.
What is Undersign?
Undersign is an electronic signature platform that lets you upload documents, prepare them for signing, and send signing requests to recipients. Signers can complete their requests through the signing link provided to them.
Once a signing request is completed, you can access the signed documents and the Completion Certificate containing the signing and document activity recorded by Undersign.
What does Undersign cost?
Your account includes defined usage limits for hosted document storage and API requests, while users/seats, templates, and signature requests have no limit.
The default limits are:
- Users/seats: No limit
- Templates: No limit
- Signature requests: No limit
- Hosted document storage: 500 MB
- API requests: 500 requests per month
See Usage & Limits for details.
What file types does Undersign support?
Undersign currently supports PDF files only.
If your document is in another format, such as Microsoft Word, save or export it as a PDF before uploading it to Undersign.
Do signers need an Undersign account?
No. Recipients of remote signing requests can open the signing link provided in their email and complete the signing process through the signing interface.
Can I send multiple documents in one signing request?
Yes. A signing request can contain multiple documents, allowing the same set of signers to complete the required signing fields across the request.
What signing methods are available?
Undersign supports multiple ways to collect signatures, including:
- Remote signing via email
- In-person signing
- Bulk signing requests
- Public signing requests
The available options depend on the type of signing workflow you are setting up.
What happens after a signing request is completed?
The signing request moves to Completed. You can view the completed request, access the signed documents, and download the Completion Certificate separately or together with the signed documents.
The certificate includes information such as signer activity, timestamps, document hashes, and the audit trail recorded for the completed request.
What statuses can a signing request have?
Undersign uses three signing request statuses:
- Sent: the request has been sent and is awaiting completion.
- Completed: all required signing activity has been completed.
- Declined: a signer has declined the signing request.
