Contact segments
Contact segments let you group saved contacts into meaningful lists so you can find and select the right people more easily.
For example, you could create segments such as Customers, Vendors, Employees, or Event Attendees based on how you use your contacts.
What is a segment?
A segment is simply a named group of contacts.
For example:
- Customers: your regular customers
- Vendors: suppliers and service providers
- Employees: people within your organization
- Event Attendees: people participating in a particular event
A contact can belong to more than one segment when appropriate.
Create and manage segments
Create a segment and add the contacts you want to include in it. You can manage the contacts in a segment as your address book changes.
You can also rename or delete a segment when it is no longer useful.
Deleting a segment does not delete the contacts in it. It only removes the grouping; the contacts remain available in your Contacts list.
Using segments
Segments are primarily an organization and selection tool. They make it easier to find a group of saved contacts when working with recipients.
When adding signers to a signing request, you can use your saved Contacts and segment organization to find the people you need, then select the appropriate contacts for that particular request.
The selected contacts are added as signers and their saved name and email information is used for the request.
See Contacts.
Segments do not send documents
Creating a segment or adding someone to a segment does not send them an email or create a signing request.
A segment only helps you organize your contacts. A signing request is created and sent only when you explicitly prepare and send the request.
