Common workflows
Set up sequential signing
Before you start
- A document with at least two signers.
- A defined order: who must act first, second, last.
When sequential signing is useful
Employee → Manager → HR. Approvals, onboarding packets, and anything where later signers act only after earlier ones have completed their part.
The workflow
- Add all signers in the template.
- Set the signing order at send time.
- Send: each signer is notified only when it's their turn.
- Track where the chain stands.
Step 1: Add signers
Add every signer and assign roles. See Add signers.
Step 2: Set the order
In the send flow, choose sequential signing and arrange the signers in the order they must act. Signers later in the chain see the request only after earlier signers finish.
Step 3: Send
Send the request. The first signer is notified immediately; everyone else waits their turn.
Step 4: Track the chain
Use signing progress to see which signer the chain is waiting on and nudge them with a reminder.
What happens next?
The request progresses signer by signer and completes when the last signer in the order finishes. The audit trail records the full sequence.
