Send a document for signature
Before you start
- A PDF or template ready to send.
- Your email delivery configured: set it up.
- You know who needs to sign.
The workflow
- Choose your document.
- Add signers.
- Add prefill information.
- Choose a signing mode.
- Review.
- Send.
Step 1: Choose your document
Pick a template or upload a fresh PDF. Templates already carry fields and roles, so they're the fastest route.
Step 2: Add signers
Add each recipient's name and email and assign them to the template's roles. Each role's fields belong to that signer. See Add signers.
Step 3: Add prefill information
Fill any data you already know, dates, names, account numbers, so the signer doesn't. See Prefill information.
Step 4: Choose the signing mode
Email signing (the default, signers act on their own) or in-person signing (you complete it together, on the spot).
Step 5: Review
Check the message, the signer list, and the field layout before dispatch. The review step is your last look before the request is live.
Step 6: Send
Send the request. Each signer gets a link and can complete their part without creating an account.
What happens next?
The recipient receives a signing request and can complete the document without an Undersign account. Track progress with Track a signature request.
