Advanced workflows
Use prefill fields
Before you start
- A template with fields you hold the data for.
- The values, or a contact record carrying them.
The workflow
- Add the fields to the template.
- Set persistent defaults if the values rarely change.
- Prefill per send for what varies.
- Choose editable or locked.
Step 1: Add the fields
Add text and date fields for the information you already know. See Configure fields.
Step 2: Set persistent defaults
For values that rarely change, your company name, a fixed date, set defaults in the template. See Prefill fields in templates.
Step 3: Prefill per send
For values that vary per recipient, customer name, account number, fill them when you create the request. See Prefill information.
Step 4: Lock or leave editable
Lock fields that must be accurate; leave editable those the signer might need to correct. Signers see prefilled values either way.
What happens next?
The signer's job shrinks to reviewing and signing. This is the pattern behind Collect information before signing.
