Templates & reuse
Turn an existing PDF into a template
Before you start
- A finished PDF: a contract, form, or agreement you already use.
- Your signer structure in mind.
The workflow
- Upload the PDF as a template.
- Add the signer roles.
- Drag fields onto the exact spots.
- Publish and send.
Step 1: Upload the PDF
Create a template from the PDF as-is. No need to recreate the document, the fields go on top of the file you already have. See Create a template.
Step 2: Add roles
Add each signer as a role. The PDF's existing signature lines tell you who signs where. See Add signers.
Step 3: Place fields
Drop signature, date, and text fields onto the matching spots in the PDF. Align them with the existing print lines so the filled template looks like the paper version. See Add fields.
Step 4: Publish
Publish once the editor is happy. Your existing PDF is now a reusable template.
What happens next?
Every send starts from the exact PDF you designed, with fields already placed. If the PDF is one of several, categorize it to keep the library tidy.
