Prefill Fields

Prefill fields are populated by the sender before the request is sent, so signers don't have to enter them.

The prefill role

In template details, the sender appears as a special role named prefill:

Fields on prefill records

Detailed field records assigned to the prefill role can contain:

• id: field identifier
• group: field grouping
• name: field name
• type: field type
• page: page the field appears on
• required: whether the field is required
• placeholder: placeholder text
• location: position and size on the page
• recipient: the role the field belongs to

Where to inspect prefill fields

Retrieve the prefill role and its fields from Get Template Details. Integrations that need to know which values to supply before sending can read the template's field configuration to prepare the right data.
